Promoting Our Community through the Arts
For the 11th year the Norfolk Lions are sponsoring a Youth Art Show open to all Norfolk residents in grades 1 through 6. The art work submitted should represent what your community looks like to you. The Youth Art Show will be at Community Day on June 11, 2022 at the Holmes Complex, 22 Myrtle St., Norfolk.
This show is free to all participants, with one entry per person. It should be drawn or painted on paper no larger than 11” x 17” using pencils, pens, crayons, paint, markers and fabric, or 3D no larger than 17” x 17” x 12”. Each entry must include an entry form taped to the backside of the art. Entry forms have already been given to children in the Norfolk public schools and additional forms can be found in each class room. There are also forms available below and in the main lobby of the Norfolk Public Library
Entries will be judged by a panel appointed by the Norfolk Lions in three age groups: grades 1 and 2, grades 3 and 4, and grades 5 and 6. Winners will be selected based on artistic creativity, neatness and originality. All entries will receive an award and winners in each age group will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and honorable mention ribbons. But that’s not all - the 1st place winners in each age group and one Grand Prize winner will also each receive gift certificates! These winning entries will be displayed at the Norfolk Library, for all to see, for two weeks after Community Day.
The contest entry deadline is 5 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd. All artwork can be placed in the collection boxes at the Freeman Kennedy School, HOD schools or the Norfolk Public Library.
